The girls varsity basketball team fell far behind opponent Stone Ridge in a 62-29 loss last Monday. This loss puts the girls basketball team at 3-4 so far.
The game was marked mostly by a large margin of points that Stone Ridge scored each and every quarter. At the end of the first quarter. Stone Ridge had scored 19 points while Wakefield only scored 10. The game continue through a moderate pattern of Stone Ridge consistently scoring large numbers while Wakefield was usually behind by 5 baskets. However, by the start of the third quarter, the Warriors simply could not put up the same number of points. What can only be attributed to exhaustion, the Warriors soon fell to only 5 points in each of the last two quarters.
Stone Ridge has a very strong basketball team that has players that can consistently score many points in a short amount of time. Wakefield on the other hand, has good players, but is unable to take advantage of many opportunities to score when the chance option should show itself.

Boys Come Close Against Maret
Last Monday, the Wakefield boy's Varsity basketball team, fell to Maret in a very close 33-36. This loss currently puts the boys basketball team at a 1-5 season. Last year at this time the boys were 5-1, a very different number to the players and the fans.
The first quarter the Warriors started off with an early lead of the game as they ended the quarter with a seven point lead against their opponents. However, Maret managed to take the lead during the second quarter and lead the Warriors throughout the rest of the game. Both teams were able to cancel each others offense out with a strong defense leaving the numbers of points scored very low.
The one thing that stands out about Maret most is the fact that they had really only two players who could put the ball up from anywhere around the court. Maret's lead scorers were Tre Bowens with 12 points and Ryan Simpson with 10. However the rest of the players on Maret barely were able to score 5 points during the course of the game. Wakefield however has a good combination of players that can score and can put up roughly the same number of points that Maret's standout players can.
One thing is for certain though. This season is going to be a complete difference than the one that the Warriors had last year.
