In a game that matched last Friday's weather, the Wakefield Warriors fell to the Hayfield Hawks in an embarrasing loss of 52-12. The Warrior's defense was simply unable to contain the Hawk's running game. As is evident by the fact that they were able to socre on the Warriors on two reverse running plays. Likewise, the Warrior's offense was not able to do alot with the ball as well. On one of the kickoff returns for the Warriors, Junior Runningback, Terry Davis, ran the ball from the Warrior's 10 yard line all the way to Hawk's 30 yard line, only to fumble it upon impact with one of the Hawk's players and suddenly lose possession. This play ultimately led to the Hawks scoring another touchdown in the early first quarter of the game.
This year's team is simply not the same as last years. The Warrior's are having to depend on players playing on both sides of the ball. Last year, Wakefield only had to depend on five players to go both ways on the field. Now, almost the entire starting line for both offense and defense consists of the same players. Alot of these guys just don't have the stamina to play on both sides and it shows in how they perform as the game progresses into the third and fourth quarters. One thing is for certain though, the Warriors need to bring their absolute A-game as they are down to the last three games of the season if they want any hope being able to not have a poor season like last year.
